Had lunch with #minicartwhisperer today and she picked Italian Market. We both agreed, those meatballs should be called “AMAZEBALLS.” (at The Italian Market)

If you’ve never heard “Pass The Peas” off this album, for God’s sake, take a minute and thirty seconds to do so on iTunes or somewhere else. The very first time I heard it, I was driving in the middle of the night from Monterey to Montecito to see my girlfriend. I was driving down Cuesta Grade in San Luis Obispo and feeling a little tired. This song came on and blew my entire mind. A few years later in 1994, I got to catch Maceo along with Fred Wesley at Berbati’s Pan in Portland. I stood about 5 feet away from the stage just mesmerized in the funk. I listen to a lot of music but I always have a place for James Brown and the J.B.s.

I first had this beer years ago after a visit to Belmont Station. I don’t get to BS too often but I ALWAYS look for this beer. It’s a fairly small run and seasonal so I usually strike out. I walked in to BS Thursday and this was staring me in the face. I feel like I won the beer lottery. This has got to be my favorite beer on the planet. Can’t wait to crack this open later-so damn good! (at Casa de Ferrero)
